Murrells Inlet, South Carolina is considered to be the seafood capital of South Carolina and has much to offer, especially for those who love the outdoors. Steeped in history, Murrells Inlet was known as the lair for the famous pirate, Blackbeard. It was also home to the Waccamaw Indian tribe and holds several historical Indian burial mounds. The town has grown substantially over time and is now a popular tourist destination, best known for its marshwalk which is a half-mile long boardwalk which offers the opportunity to watch the fishing boats come in hauling the day’s catch.

Murrells Inlet is small town living at its best with a population of 8,547 residents (as of the 2010 census). The town has plenty to offer, with many fishing and boating opportunities. The town is home to the Brookgreen Gardens, a beautiful garden, sculpture museum and zoo. Murrells Inlet is also home to Huntington Beach State Park, a 2500 acre park featuring a gorgeous beach and salt marsh. Nature lovers will appreciate the bird watching and animal programs offered through the park.

The school has a total of 683 students with a ratio of 16 students to a teacher. St. James Elementary also has a rating of 8. The school has 860 students with a ratio of 18 students to a teacher. St. James Middle School has a rating of 9. The school has a total of 1,100 students and a ratio of 15 students to a teacher.
